Hello, friends! Welcome to City Folk Homestead! This is a blog born out of trial and error; soaring confidence and extremely low discouragement; and lots of laughter (and tears) at our accomplishments and utter failures ahem, learning opportunities. I want to share with you the obstacles we have overcome and the trials we still face as “city folk” aspiring for a more home-centered, simple and healthy life.
You Are In The Right Place If:
You’re ready to say goodbye to the fast pace of modern culture & become more home-centered
You live in the city and dream of a homestead
You’re a new homesteader learning as you go (like we are)
You already have a homestead and are looking for new ideas (or a walk down memory lane)
Or you want to incorporate simple, healthy living right where you’re at
I look forward to getting to know you no matter what journey brought you here!
More About Paige from City Folk Homestead
As we trade our city-minded roots for home-centered homestead living, we aspire to build confidence through doing, give grace when failing, and serve with a joyful heart.
This vision for our family has been born out of what I would like to accomplish through City Folk Homestead: To encourage ourselves and others to shed the lie that “it’s too late, it will never happen.” Instead, let’s pursue our calling, our dreams, and our passions without abandon!
My husband Dillan and I live with our three kids on two acres of nice, green lawn that we are slowly carving into our homestead haven. We lived the first six years of our married life just outside our state’s capital and loved it. We never really dreamed of anything different than what we had in the city. Until, one morning, we both literally did wake up from a dream and decided that day my husband would find a tradesman job and quit his 9-5 at a large financial institution. We would move to the country to have chickens and goats and I would homeschool our children.
It has been two years since we made that leap. Although it has been, and still is some days, a huge transition and adjustment for us, we are really thankful for this opportunity to build and pass down generational wealth by instilling character, skills, and financial literacy into our children. We’re in a season of exploring new passions and becoming a part of an incredible homemaking and homesteading community. We haven’t accomplished nearly any of the things that we had such clarity on that August morning in 2021, but we look forward to sharing the accomplishments with you all as they come!
